Warped Floating Sketch
Sculptural installation
Hundreds of metres of coloured polythene strips are woven throughout the metalwork of the bridges that cross the river Wandle, generating an artwork that visitors can walk through. Pantazopoulou is interested in the potential materials have in spreading, taking over the space and crossing beyond its ‘boundaries’, demonstrating and implying an explosion of activity.

Since 2007, Ioanna has created large sculptures and installations that disrupt, interfere, transform, challenge and question the habitual approaches we take to spaces and the uses we make of objects. Alongside with notions of how space is assumed and tackled, the ‘all-over compositions’ of Installation History, site-specificity, concepts of Arte Povera ,constitute, inform and amalgamate her practice and methods of research. By creating tensions, she challenges and explores the physical properties of materials and everyday objects, as well as the rules of logic, symmetry, functionality, laws of architecture and physical gravity.

Ioanna Pantazopoulou was born in 1984, Athens, Greece. Ioanna has completed a Master of Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design in September 2009. She has participated in group exhibitions in London and Athens and her work is owned by a number of private collectors.
