JOHN O'HARE
The Deciduous Factor Sculptural Installation
O’Hare has planted artificial trees in the banks of the River Wandle. Painted in bright synthetic colours, they suggest a new growth emergent from a contaminated landscape, a post-urban nature both beautiful and apocalyptic, asking whether it matters if a new and artificial nature replaces our existing plants and trees.
O'Hare makes sculptures and interventions, recent shows include Airspace Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent and Broadwalk Arts Bristol. In his practice-led research he explores traces of time in objects and places, employing colour to evoke the play amongst these whilst considering the contribution this response makes to an overall story of the space.
