Wedge Installation
A wedge of space amongst the trees is temporarily defined by a myriad of criss- crossing lines in red wool. The dissecting lines create a barrier placing the viewer on the outside looking in. Katie Gilman’s work is driven by an urge to define the boundaries of space and form through interventions that invite a re-consideration of public spaces.
Katie Gilman graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the University of East London in 2006. Recent exhibitions have included several temporary public art commissions: Deadweight, Deptford X 2007, and shortlisted for the MacDonald Egan Award, Deptford X 2008 for the work 10,597.
